Multi-media Collaged Earrings

This was meant as a proof-of-concept experiment, relatively unplanned, and no knowledge of how it would turn out (mmm deconstructing my perfectionism).

As part of my new adventure learning how to quilt, I have been trying different methods for making sentimental earrings using the fabric in the quilts I’ve made people. These earrings act as a nice “take your quilt with you” sentiment, especially for mom’s who’s baby I made a quilt for. I’ve tried a few different methodologies, all of which were incredibly and painstakingly manual and not quite as “refined” as I would have liked. I spent hours hanging over a small piece of wood with a giant razor cutter and often would have 50% waste due to issues with the resin or glue. Oh, and the tiny holes. Through this project, I was able to test a new methodology, nearly “mass-produce” earrings, all one-of-a-kind, and while they’re imperfect (and thus priced lower than the Bright Zen project collection), they’re fun, statement pieces, and just boho’y enough to make me wish I had more ears.
