Flowin With The Ebb

Note: I’m writing in the first person here, using “I”; this is intentional so as not to push my “shoulds” on you. Know I’m writing for anyone who can relate, and also know, what works for me may not work for you.

To cultivate equanimity we practice catching ourselves when we feel attraction or aversion, before it hardens into grasping or negativity. Pema Chodron

While this design aligns nicely with others, this one is a reminder that nothing is permanent, much like flowing water. I find that consciously labeling things as impermanent, specifically any sort of run-down feelings I might have, helps me deal with what I’m feeling in that moment. Additionally, where this design comes in, is by practicing flexibility and recognizing that change is likely going to be okay, I am fighting life a lot less. I’m saving my energy normally spent on trying to control my calendar and day-to-day, rerouting it to more effective uses. By adapting to last-minute changes and being truly okay with “going with the flow”, I’m finding that I’m less stressed out with “what-ifs”.

Some things can’t be flexible. Some things need my attention to detail and my timeliness. Other things I can relax around. It’s important for me to be more discerning between the two, being sure to relax and let go where possible.

Going Goalless helps. By not attaching myself to particular outcomes, I can feel less guilt around moving around priorities (which is bound to happen naturally). I can let go of feeling a bunch of “shoulds” that drag on my mental health.

I can go with the flow, and be at peace.

Design discontinued as of September 2023.
